My Christmas Guys... Family Zoom Style

Early morning sand crab

Isla is obsessed with sand crabs. She would absolutely  spend all day catching them if we let her. One night after one such day, she crawled into our bed and said “I’m just going to dig in like a sand crab.” Since then, whenever she cuddles up, I call her my little sand crab.

She’s usually up bright and early but this morning she cuddled up like the little sand crab that she is and slept In with me (thank you PK!) and when we woke up, she chatted and chatted and chatted.. and brought toys and books for us. It was so cool to just listen to her little mind work. I wanted to take a pic of her to send to pK (to let him know I was awake and ready for my coffee :)) and she made me get in the pic with her.

I cannot believe how much I adore this little girl. She is amazing beyond words and I pray with all my might that she can grasp how perfect her spirit is and hold onto it forever.

Running buddies

I told the fam that I was going for a run and suddenly
it got really quiet. The Bigs ran upstairs to secretly get ready to join me. This turned into a 1.5 hour walk. We ended up calling Auntie Chelsey to remind us what yarrow looked like and then doubling back to find some - at which point Isla immediately put it into her mouth. As you can see from her face, that was a bad decision. It was exhausting but I was so proud of them and I’m pretty sure they had fun- at some points at least.

And yes, they think they have to wear tank tops to go on a run- even in the winter.

The “rockstar with sassy glasses” look

Yes- that’s what they called it.

Finding new places to be

It is the understatement of the year to say that we’ve spent a lot of time at home in 2020. We used to think it was so crazy if we ever went a day without leaving the house. Before Covid, it was maybe twice... maybe! Now, outside of neighborhood walks, a trip to the beach or maybe an afternoon at Will and Kari’s, we are ALWAYS home. We are so lucky to have the home we do and I will always be grateful for that. That being said, kids need new places and things to explore. Last weekend they spent an hour in the back of the International. An hour!!!

Those face, the crazy hair, those dark eyes...

Little bed

Q and Isla love making this little bed in the nook of the couch. They haven’t done it with Kap around until last night. Kap thought it was a wrestling ring. He could not stop trying to beat them up. Q and Isla were not happy- I think they will be waiting until Kap is in bed before they make the little bed from now on.

More cookies!!

Isla used the big Mixer all by herself. I love watching her learn new things and be proud of herself.

That lip!

Isla too!! Somehow it looks less crazy when she does it... even with all her tie-dye in the mix.
